Fariq mengemukakan, Ustadz Abdullah sedang sakit radang saluran kencing dan keracunan dalam darah. Ia sempat dirawat di rumah sakit di Jeddah selama tiga pekan dan baru pulang ke rumah beberapa hari lalu. “Beliau bercerita bahwa sempat merasakan sakit yang dia kira bahwa itu sebagai sakaratul maut. Semoga Allah menyembuhkannya,” tutur Fariq, da’i yang produktif menulis artikel hikmah dan buku keislaman.
Selesai shalat isya, Ustadz Abdullah mengajak Fariq ikut menemani ke poliklinik untuk periksa di laboratorium. Dalam perjalanan ke poliklinik Abdullah memberikan beberapa nasehatnya.
“Janganlah Anda heran kepada orang yang mengetahui bahwa pintu-pintu jannah dibuka di bulan Ramadhan tapi ia tidak memasukinya! Heranlah kepada orang yang mengetahui bahwa pintu-pintu neraka ditutup di bulan Ramadhan tapi ia malah mengetuk pintu neraka minta untuk dibuka!” demikian salah satu nasehat Abdullah.
Abdullah, kata Fariq, menegaskan bahwa kebiasaan buruk merupakan penghalang ibadah. “Kebiasaan buruk, penghalang ibadah! Sebagian orang di bulan Ramadhan masih sempat menonton sinetron. Sebagian lagi merokok saat berbuka atau sahur. Ketika ditegur, ia menjawab bahwa ini sudah menjadi kebiasaan. Sebagian manusia juga menjadikan makan saat berbuka sebagai balas dendam akibat lapar di siang hari sehingga makan dan minum berlebihan,” tutur Fariq mengutip Abdullah.
“Astaghfirullah, bagaimana dengan kemaksiatan atau keburukan yang lebih parah lagi dari menonton sinetron, merokok dan berlebihan dalam makan dan minum?” ujar Fariq.
Fariq menyitir salah satu hadits Rasulullah SAW, “Allah berfirman, ‘Semua amal anak Adam untuknya kecuali puasa. Ia untuk-Ku dan Aku yang akan membalasnya.” (HR. Bukhari Muslim)

Abdullah, kata Fariq, memberikan permisalan, “Jika seorang ayah memberikan pakaian lebaran yang mahal untuk anaknya. Ia serahkan pakaian tersebut kepada anaknya agar dikenakan saat lebaran. Sebelum lebaran si anak menyetrika baju tersebut lalu terbakar dan pakaian itu menjadi hangus. Apakah pakaian tersebut akan dikenakannya saat Idul Fitri? Tentu Tidak! Allah telah menjanjikan pahala yang berlimpah dan ampunan yang banyak bagi yang menjalankan ibadah puasanya karena keimanan dan mengharapkan pahala dari Allah. Jangan Anda nodai bulan Ramadhan ini dengan dosa dan maksiat!”
