"KPI menilai, penayangan iklan Partai Perindo merupakan pelanggaran atas perlindungan kepentingan publik," ujar Komisioner KPI Pusat Koordinator Bidang Pengawasan Isi Siaran Hardly Stefano dalam keterangan tertulis di situs KPI yang dikutip detikcom pada Sabtu (13/5/2017).
Empat stasiun TV swasta yang dimaksud adalah RCTI, Global TV, MNC TV dan iNEWS TV. Siaran iklan Partai Perindo yang ditayangkan melanggar P3 & SPS yang mengatur bahwa program siaran wajib untuk dimanfaatkan demi kepentingan publik dan tidak untuk kepentingan kelompok tertentu. Adapun yang dilanggar adalah Pasal 11 P3 KPI tahun 2012 dan pasal 11 ayat (1) SPS KPI tahun 2012.
Selain peringatan tertulis, KPI juga memerintahkan penghentian siaran iklan Partai Perindo pada keempat stasiun TV tersebut. Ini merujuk pada pasal 36 ayat (4) Undang-Undang nomor 32 tahun 2002 tentang Penyiaran, yang berisi siaran wajib dijaga netralitasnya dan tidak boleh mengutamakan kepentingan golongan tertentu. Bahkan ancaman peningkatan sanksi seperti yang tercantum dalam pasal 75 ayat (2) SPS KPI tahun 2012 juga diingatkan KPI.
