Dewasa ini, kita tengah menghadapi suatu diskursus publik yang luas, terutama dalam penyikapan masyarakat atas pernyataan Gubernur DKI Basuki Tjahaja Purnama di Kepulauan Seribu, yang menimbulkan kontroversi di hampir seluruh kalangan. Bahkan sebagian kalangan mengatasnamakan "Aksi Bela Islam II" akan menggelar aksi besar tanggal 4 November mendatang.

1. Mari jaga persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa. Pererat tali silaturahim antar komponen masyarakat. Berpecah adalah musuh utama dari ukhuwah. Ukhuwah adalah modal utama kita di dalam membangun suatu tatanan masyarakat yang aman, damai, adil, dan makmur. Jaga Ukhuwah Wathoniyah (persaudaraan setanah air) dan Ukhuwah Basyariyah (persaudaraan sesama manusia), agar Indonesia terbebas dari ancaman perpecahan.

2. Kepada seluruh pengurus NU dan warga NU untuk secara pro-aktif turut menenangkan situasi, menjaga agar suasana yang aman dan damai tetap terpelihara dan tidak ikut-ikutan memperkeruh suasana dengan provokasi dan hasutan. PBNU melarang penggunaan simbol-simbol NU untuk tujuan-tujuan di luar kepentingan sebagaimana menjadi keputusan jamiyyah NU.
3. Mengimbau kepada aparat kepolisian untuk segera melakukan tindakan dan langkah sesuai dengan prosedur hukum dan perundangan yang berlaku, agar dapat memenuhi rasa keadilan masyarakat dengan tanpa mengabaikan asas praduga tak bersalah. Upaya ini harus dilakukan guna menghindarkan terjadinya yang cenderung menimbulkan kegaduhan dan anarki.
4. Kepada para pihak yang hendak menyalurkan aspirasi dengan berunjuk rasa, PBNU mengimbau agar tetap menjaga akhlakul karimah dengan tetap menjaga ketertiban, menjaga kenyamanan lalu lintas dan dapat menjaga keamanan masyarakat demi keutuhan NKRI.
5. Mari tengadahkan tangan mohon petunjuk dan berdoa semoga Indonesia selalu diberi kesejukan dan kedamaian dalam perlindungan, penjagaan dan pertolongan dari Allah SWT.
