Masih menurut Husain, speaker yang buruk tentu saja merugikan jemaah yang sudah datang ke mesjid. Husain juga mengatakan bila nantinya tim ini tak hanya memantau tapi juga mengendalikan kualitas suara serta jangkauan suara speaker masjid. “Sehingga suara antar-masjid bisa harmoni,tidak seperti sekarang yang cenderung bersaut-sautan dan aku kenceng” katanya.
Wujud keseriusan JK dan pihaknya kini telah menyiapkan sekaligus melatih 700 orang teknisi dan menyiapkan 100 unit mobil teknis untuk tim pemantau speaker masjid ini. Setiap mobil ini akan berisi 3 teknisi yakni, elektrik, sound system dan kebersihan. “Mereka akan keliling melatih pengelola-pengelola masjid,” ujarnya.
Sebelumnya, keberadaan tim ini dikritik oleh banyak pihak. Ketua Komisi Agama DPR Saleh Partaonan Daulay mengkritik tajam pembentukan tim tersebut. Mantan ketua umum Pimpinan Pusat Pemuda Muhammadiyah itu bahkan meminta Jusuf Kalla memberi klarifikasi atas rencana pembentukan tim itu seperti yang disampaikan oleh Husein Abdullah selaku juru bicara Wakil Presiden. “Pak JK selaku Wakil Presiden perlu memberi penjelasan, klarifikasi,” tutur Saleh kepada CNN Indonesia, Ahad (26/7).
Saleh menyatakan pemerintah lebih baik membentuk tim pemantau fakir miskin daripada pemantau kaset pengajian di masjid. “Memelihara fakir miskin dan orang-orang terlantar adalah amanat konstitusi yang harus dilaksanakan oleh negara,” ujarnya.
Lanjut dia, memantau kaset pengajian di masjid tidak ditemukan ketentuannya dalam peraturan perundang-undangan yang ada. Kalau negara tidak memantau dan memelihara fakir miskin berarti bisa melanggar konstitusi. Hal tersebut ada ketentuannya dalam Pasal 34 UUD 1945. “Kalau kaset pengajian di masjid biarlah diurus oleh marbot dan takmir masjidnya,” tutur Saleh.
JK memang memberikan perhatian lebih soal speaker masjid. Sebelumnya, saat memberikan sambutan di pertemuan MUI di Tegal, JK telah meminta agar masjid tidak memutar kaset pengajian dengan speaker saat orang tengah istirahat, yakni dini hari. JK meminta agar kaset rekaman itu diputar jelang subuh saja.
Pada saat insiden di Tolikara, JK menyebut speaker sebagai pemicu inisiden tersebut. JK menyebutkan insiden itu dipicu karena umat muslim yang menggunakan speaker terlalu keras saat Salat Id, padahal sebelumnya sudah ada pemberitahuan untuk tidak menggunakan pengeras suara.
Peristiwa kerusuhan di Tanjungbalai, Sumatera Utara pun JK tidak ketinggalan ikut berkomentar bahwa salah satu penyebabnya adalah karena speaker masjid. Walaupun pernyataan ini sudah dibantah oleh MUI setempat yang mengatakan bahwa memang karakter Meliana yang anti toleransi.
